9 Powerful Prayers Every Single Woman Should Pray

Do you feel bothered and harassed?

Are you disappointed with God?

Do you sense that you no longer have the intimacy with Christ that you once enjoyed?

BE THE RIGHT WOMAN FOR THE RIGHT MAN!

Ever feel like you don’t know what a godly man is looking for in a wife? Our Irresistible Godly Woman Checklist will give you clear insights so you can stop guessing and start preparing … while reaching your full potential as a single Christian woman.

Is your faith in God wavering?

Your life can become so busy that you’re not aware of the changes that have taken place in your heart and mind.  Subtly, your love for God can slowly wane and you forget the beauty of this season of singleness.  There’s nothing like praying to your wonderful Savior to help realign you to Himself and His purpose for your life.

Here are 9 powerful prayers every single woman should pray:

1) Undivided devotion to Christ.

Without a shadow of a doubt, a single Christian woman can give focused attention on her relationship with God without being distracted by the natural desire to nurture her relationship with her husband and care for her children.  You have the privilege of undivided devotion to Christ.

“… and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband. I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 7:34-35 NIV

2) Purity and holiness.

God has called single women to live set apart for Him and to embrace purity in mind and body.  You are to be like Him and not like the world.  With the easy accessibility of pornographic images in every from and fashion, your mind can be quietly bombarded by images that are not pure, even if you might be a virgin.  Another aspect of purity is choosing to dress modestly and not like a porn star.

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16 NIV

3) Forgiveness and healing.

The longer you live, the more opportunities you have of being hurt.  While you’re single, it is the best time to face your hurts and bring them to Jesus for his healing and deliverance.

Whether it has been hurt experienced through your parents, siblings, relatives, friends, spiritual leaders or past boyfriends, this time is important to reflect, forgive, and seek reconciliationForgiveness will set you free and place you on a path of emotional, spiritual, physical and mental.  It’s that important!

4) Fulfilling your purpose.

God has a purpose for your life.  Regardless of the circumstances of your birth, God loves you and has prepared good works for you to do before you were even born.  Even if you’ve made a ton of mistakes, it’s not lo late to start fulfilling your purpose because you’re still alive (and reading this article!).  Remember, God is faithful even when we are not. He’s that amazing!

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV

5) Appreciating and enjoying singleness.

Singleness has numerous benefits including the ability to focus, freedom, flexibility, fewer obligations, and opportunities to spend more time with family and friends.  Undoubtedly, this season of your life should not be wasted, but rather you should enjoy it to the max.

Making marriage your ultimate goal will severely reduce your enjoyment of this season and it will increase your chances of disappointment if/when you get married.

6) Desire for His Word.

With many things vying for your attention on a daily basis, it is easy to sacrifice time in God’s Word.  You might think that listening to your favorite pastor on YouTube and listening to sermons via podcasts are enough for your spiritual growth.

However, nothing can replace the pure milk of the Word of God.  It’s that powerful all on its own.  If you really want to mature spiritually, you need to be in God’s Word for yourself.

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NIV

7) Your closeness with God.

Loneliness is a real problem that many single women face.  Spending time with loved ones can help with that, but the biggest antidote to loneliness is nurturing your intimacy with God.  God is real and His presence can be known.

I remember reading “The Practice of the  Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence, a French monk in the 1600s.  God’s presence was real to this simple monk. You too can experience that kind of intimacy.  Like any strong relationship, it requires investments of unhurried time and a willingness to do what it takes to get to know the other person.  It’s the same with God. He can be known and moreover, He wants to be known intimately by you.  What more can a woman want?:)

“Let us occupy ourselves entirely in knowing God. The more we know Him, the more we will desire to know Him. As love increases with knowledge, the more we know God, the more we will truly love Him. We will learn to love Him equally in times of distress or in times of great joy.” –  Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God

8) A healthy view of marriage.

On one side of the spectrum, there are single Christian women who have made marriage an idol.  However, in growing popularity, more singles are creating an idol of singleness.

Neither an idol of marriage nor an idol of singleness is healthy or biblical.  Unless you’re called to a life of celibacy, it is natural and healthy to desire marriage.  As such, a hatred toward marriage is a rebellion against God’s original plan and therefore, we should guard our hearts against it.  We still need to “be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:28).

9) Resist Envy.

When you desire marriage and it seems like others around you are getting married, envy can begin to rear its ugly head.  It may be even worse if you think that you’re more deserving of a husband than the other person.  Similarly, I have been guilty of this and it robs you of joy.

Thus, it contradicts “rejoice with those who rejoice” (Romans 12:15).  You have to remember that our main goals are loving God; becoming like Christ and helping others to know Him.  Those goals can be accomplished through singleness or in marriage.
